The Nuclear Safety Technologies Department of Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), is seeking a dedicated R&D Nuclear Engineer to support the corporate Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Program, activity level work with fissionable materials and research and development projects. The NCS team supports a variety of locations and activities across SNL, encourages professional development in the NCS field, and works together on the continuous improvement and implementation of the program! About Our Team
The Nuclear Safety Technologies Department (Org. 1383), located in Technical Area V (TA-V) at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), is responsible for ensuring that risks associated with operating TA-V nuclear facilities are analyzed, communicated, and accepted by the governing authorities. This involves selecting and evaluating nuclear safety controls to ensure protection of the general public, workers, visitors, and the TA-V staff. In addition, the Department ensures that the nuclear facility's safety documentation complies with federal law, Department of Energy (DOE) requirements and SNL standards and expectations. Org. 1383 is also responsible for implementing the Sandia corporate Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Program. Additional responsibilities of Department include research in isotope production/separation technologies, and reactor design and analysis. Posting Duration
