Position: Technical Training Author

Location: Auburn Hills, MI (Hybrid - Onsite Tuesdays + as needed)

Pay: $32-$37/hour

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Instructional Designer / Technical Training Author to develop engaging automotive training content across EV, diagnostics, powertrain, and ADAS systems. This role blends instructional design expertise with hands-on technical knowledge to create innovative learning experiences for technicians.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Design and develop end-to-end technical training including ILT, eLearning (Articulate Storyline, Rise 360), microlearning, and job aids.
  • Partner with SMEs to gather content, conduct interviews, and translate complex topics into clear, engaging training materials.
  • Create interactive learning experiences (simulations, drag-and-drop, layered graphics, multimedia).
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, and digital content using audio, video, and graphics.
  • Capture reference images and content onsite in vehicle/garage environments as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine content and ensure training effectiveness and quality.
  • Continuously improve training through feedback, analytics, and emerging learning technologies.



Required Skills (One of the Following):



  • Instructional Design Focus: Strong portfolio with interactive Articulate Storyline projects, advanced eLearning development, and technical training experience.
  • Automotive/Technical Focus: Hands-on knowledge of automotive systems, tools, diagnostics, and ability to quickly learn eLearning tools.



Qualifications:



  • Experience with Articulate Storyline and Rise 360 (required).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Must reside in the Metro Detroit area and be comfortable working onsite as needed.
