Position Highlights

The Department of Immunobiology is seeking highly motivated applicants for the Research Technician III position in the Kuhns Lab. This position requires a high level of enthusiasm, dedication, and drive for applicants interested in using biomimetic engineering techniques to build and test novel synthetic receptors and T cell engagers (pubmed search: Kuhns MS).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform independent, moderately complex lab experiments with minimal supervision. Collect and analyze data, and document the results of experiments. Record information and maintain detailed records of experimental procedures.
  • Assist with experiments of other research staff.
  • Use extensive knowledge to develop and implement SOPs, procedures, techniques, protocols, and methodologies to fit specific research experiment requirements.
  • Use data to prepare reports in a clear and efficient manner for use in grant submissions and publications.
  • Present results to PI weekly in one-on-one meetings and periodically in lab meeting.
  • Ensure compliance with lab procedures, protocols, and quality control.
  • Assist with and organize the set-up of the laboratory experiments and equipment and animal enrichment.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and lab equipment.
  • Order reagents, perform mouse husbandry, and perform lab chores/maintenance as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed research records and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, and mouse husbandry/handling experience are preferred. Computational background is encouraged.
  • Any computational experience should be listed, as this will aid in consideration. Experience with microscopy should be noted.
