Position Title: UKG Pro HRIS/Payroll Analyst

Location: Durham, NC

Job Summary:

The UKG Pro HRIS & Payroll Analyst is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and functionality of the organization's HR systems (UKG) and payroll processes. This role ensures employees are paid correctly and system issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.

This position partners across HR, Payroll, and external vendors to troubleshoot issues, validate data, and drive system and payroll accuracy.

Job Responsibilities:

HRIS / UKG System Support



  • Provide day-to-day production support for UKG Pro and WFM, including business processes, data management, and system functionality


  • Troubleshoot system issues end-to-end, including payroll, accruals, and integrations (e.g., PTO, payroll deductions)


  • Identify root causes and implement both short-term fixes and long-term solutions


  • Serve as a primary point of contact for HRIS-related issues, ensuring timely and professional resolution


  • Maintain data integrity by establishing and enforcing best practices for system usage and data entry


  • Support system updates, enhancements, testing, and upgrades, including coordination with vendors


  • Manage multiple requests simultaneously, prioritizing and escalating issues as needed


  • Communicate status, risks, and resolutions clearly to HR, Payroll, and leadership


  • Develop basic user guidance and support materials to improve system adoption and accuracy


Payroll Support & Processing



  • Serve as backup for U.S. and Canada payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across both regions


  • Review and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy of earnings, deductions, and taxes


  • Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies prior to payroll processing


Payroll Transactions & Employee Support



  • Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries, including pay discrepancies, W-2s, and related questions


  • Process payroll-related transactions, including terminations, final pay, retroactive adjustments, and bonus or commission payments


Payroll Compliance & Reporting



  • Support payroll compliance activities, including year-end processing (W-2s, 1095-Cs where applicable to payroll reporting) and regulatory reporting


  • Assist with payroll audits and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations


Reconciliation & Invoicing



  • Reconcile payroll-related data with vendor invoices as applicable


  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll-related financial items


Reporting & Data Validation



  • Generate and validate standard and ad hoc reports from UKG


  • Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve data issues


  • Support audit readiness and compliance reporting efforts


Process Improvement



  • Identify system and process gaps impacting payroll accuracy and HR operations


  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system functionality and efficiency

Education and Experience:



  • 3-5+ years of experience in HRIS, Payroll, or HR Operations


  • Experience supporting payroll processing (U.S. required; Canada preferred)


  • Strong experience with HR systems


  • Hands-on significant level of experience with UKG Pro and/or UKG WFM is required; candidates without UKG experience must demonstrate comparable expertise in configuring and troubleshooting HRIS and payroll systems


  • Experience troubleshooting payroll-impacting system issues (e.g., deductions, accruals, integrations) is required


  • Working knowledge of payroll and HR compliance


  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills


  • High attention to detail and data accuracy


Travel:



  • This position does not require travel. However, may need to travel to our Canadian office for support.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.


Preferred



  • Experience with UKG Pro and/or UKG WFM


  • Experience with payroll integrations and system troubleshooting


  • Experience in a multi-state or service-based organization
