Florida Space Institute: The Florida Space Institute (FSI) supports space research, development, and education activities. Since 1996, FSI has been an institute of the State University System of Florida. FSI is made up of researchers, educators, and staff from member universities in Florida. FSI research ranges from studying the Earth's upper atmosphere to the origin of the planets and from the workings of asteroids to propulsion technologies for high-Mach aerospace vehicles. Additionally, FSI is involved in space missions to include rocket launches, suborbital flights, the NASA Cassini mission to Saturn, and NASA's Explorer program. The Opportunity: The Engineer II conducts hardware testing for UCF researchers and external customers using laboratory test equipment and is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and reliability of that equipment. The Engineer II collaborates with researchers on proposal development by producing conceptual designs, reviewing existing designs, and recommending technical improvements. In support of sponsored research projects, the Engineer II designs, builds, and integrates subsystems and complete systems to meet defined requirements; performs testing to verify and validate system performance; and contributes technical expertise to reports, documentation, and presentations submitted to sponsoring agencies. Responsibilities: The Engineer II responsibilities include laboratory testing, designing and building hardware and software for research projects, proposal development activities, and laboratory maintenance. Econ Circle, Suite 100, Oviedo, FL 32765 The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $72,583 The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
