This position is hybrid with regular requirements to work onsite. Candidates must be willing to commute to Madison, WI as needed.

Under the guidance and direction of the IT Enterprise Applications Manager, the Epic Learning Specialist plays a vital role in building and sustaining a best-in-class Epic learning experience for new and current GHC-SCW staff. You'll be part of a supportive, energetic team that values creativity, continuous improvement, and working together to solve challenges.



What You'll Do:


Working within a structured Epic learning program, you'll deliver engaging training and hands-on support primarily for EpicCare Ambulatory. You'll also champion GHC-SCW-specific technology needs, ensuring our staff feels confident and capable every step of the way.



As a key contributor to our collaborative work environment, you'll bring your expertise to project workgroups and committees, offering thoughtful recommendations, helping shape decisions, and partnering across departments to drive meaningful outcomes. Your voice matters here - we count on our specialists to be active, engaged participants who aren't afraid to share fresh ideas.



You'll develop innovative training curricula and materials that are as effective as they are engaging, and you'll exercise independent judgment and decision-making to keep programs running smoothly and responsively.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Business or relevant field; or equivalent business experience required.


2. Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in the technical system-training field including curriculum development and designing educational/training materials required. Experience training and/or using EPIC systems software is highly desirable. Certification, or desire to become certified, in various Epic applications is highly desirable.


3. Ability to travel to various work sites. Employee is expected to provide personal transportation. Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle.


4. Knowledge of the principles and practices used in health insurance and/or clinical operations preferred.


5. Knowledge of or ability to learn the major business operations of a managed care /staff model clinic organization. Specifically: operating procedures and practices related to patient care, safety, and satisfaction; customer service; quality improvement; proactive healthcare and community outreach; electronic medical records; and registration, insurance, billing and ancillary systems.


6. Knowledge of and ability to apply project planning and project management practices and principles.


7. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge and proficiency with English punctuation, grammar and spelling required.


8. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software programs such as MS Office including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation programs such as PowerPoint.


9. Knowledge of and/ or ability to learn and effectively use various healthcare related systems software including Epic Systems Software. Ability to become EPIC certified, as required.


10. Excellent facilitation skills required. Ability to coach, mentor, and provide customized education programs to support new and current employees.


11. Ability to continually assess GHC-SCW business needs and recommend appropriate learning activities. Knowledge and proficiency to develop, prepare, and maintain educational materials.


12. Effective planning and communication skills required.


13. Orientation to detail required. Ability to work independently required.


14. Ability to learn and adhere to OSHA standard and other patient care protocols required.


15. Ability to maintain organizational, personnel related and patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA privacy requirements.


16. Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization while providing excellent customer service required. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with diverse populations.


17. Ability to manage multiple priorities required. Commitment to meeting deadlines required.


18. Weekend availability to provide appropriate weekend training required.


19. Ability to use a keyboard. Ability to see at near, mid and far range required.


20. Ability to speak and hear in person and on the telephone required.


21. Ability to sit a majority of the work day and stand, lift, bend, and stretch occasionally required.
