Job Description

The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance, repair, and support activities on production and facility systems to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime. This position executes assigned work orders, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting under moderate supervision. The Technician I is responsible for maintaining safe work practices and supporting plant operations through technical skill development and consistent performance.


Job Duties:




  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems according to established schedules.



  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.



  • Inspect machinery and report potential problems to prevent unplanned downtime.



  • Assist with equipment installations, changeovers, and adjustments.



  • Document all maintenance activities accurately within the CMMS system.



  • Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in clean and organized condition.



  • Participate in safety and continuous improvement programs, including 5S and root cause analysis.



  • Comply with all OSHA, NFPA, and company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout.



  • Support facility and utility maintenance tasks as assigned.



  • Perform other duties as needed to support departmental and plant goals.

Qualification
Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Minimum 1 year of industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance experience.



  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, bearings, belts, drives, and lubrication principles.



  • Ability to read and interpret simple schematics, manuals, and work instructions.



  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments safely.



  • Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to reliability.



  • Basic computer literacy for CMMS and documentation purposes.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Completion of a technical certificate or diploma in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field.



  • Familiarity with basic electrical troubleshooting and motor control systems.


  • Experience working with pumps, conveyors, and press equipment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and TPM principles
