GFT is seeking a part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operatorto join our Practice or CBG Team in Chipley, FL! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Chipley, FLoffice.

We are currently offering the following positions for qualified candidates to fill current needs:

  • Part-Time (21 hours a week/with benefits, flexible shifts)
  • Hourly (8-16 hours a week, flexible shifts)

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Traffic Operations Specialist, you serve as the eyes of the roadway, responsible for identifying, verifying, and documenting real-time traffic conditions within the SunGuide system. This role supports traffic operations through continuous monitoring, incident detection, coordinated response, and precise data entry in a 24/7/365 environment. You are responsible for accurately capturing real-time events and supporting the safe and efficient clearance of incidents by coordinating with Road Rangers, first responders, and partner agencies. Additionally, you ensure timely and reliable communication to the traveling public through the use of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and other traveler information systems.

  • Conducting CCTV tours and creating, managing, and monitoring all events within an assigned coverage area.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and dispatching Road Rangers to support incident response and roadway operations.
  • Utilizing third-party resources such as Waze, the FHP website, RITIS, and Google Maps to identify and verify roadway activity and incidents.
  • Monitoring email communications for National Weather Service (NWS) notifications; entering associated events and posting messages to Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) as needed.
  • Entering service tickets for malfunctioning ITS devices within the assigned area and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Using FL511.com to enter, update, and maintain major events, including state road closures
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Ability to use computers with Windows-based software.
  • Strong situational awareness and real-time decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with Florida's state roadways and counties.
  • Skilled in verbal communication,especiallyradio/dispatch communication.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures while under pressure.
  • Ability to monitor and interpret live video feeds and traffic data continuously.
  • Skilled in multitasking and prioritization in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in operating multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of roadway systems, traffic flow, and congestion indicators.
  • Skilled in accurate and timely data entry and event documentation.

Compensation: $20-$22 an hour (dependent upon experience)

Business Hours: 24/7/365

Shifts: 6AM-2PM, 2PM-10PM, 10PM-6AM

Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
