DIRECTOR OF HIGHWAYS/CIVIL ENGINEER Full-time position with the Nez Perce County Road & Bridge Dept. Salary $88,316-$134,846 DOE/DOQ, plus exceptional benefits including: PERSI retirement, excellent medical/vision/dental insurance for employees and eligible dependents, and generous vacation/sick/holiday leave. This position is located in Lewiston, ID at the base of the Hells Canyon and the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. Lewistons relatively mild climate lends accessibility to a variety of outdoor recreational activities all four seasons. The LC Valley is home to 60,000 residents and is served by a regional airport as well as two US Highways. Under the general oversight of the County Commissioners, the Director of Highways/Civil Engineer plans, manages and coordinates County construction and year-around maintenance operations of the Road & Bridge and Weed Department employees and activities in support of them. Position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and improvements on approximately 1400 lane miles of roadway, numerous bridge programs, and managing a multi-million dollar annual budget. Min. Qualifications: Bachelors in Engineering; Professional Engineering License (Civil) in the State of Idaho or other state PE with Idaho reciprocity; at least five years progressively responsible work experience in building and maintaining roads, highways and bridges, including at least five years supervisory and management experience within a highway or public works department; and excellent communication and leadership skills.
