Job Description

The Environmental Review Officer I will provide consultation to the Bank's Line of Business and Credit Administration functions; reviewing and opining upon environmental data in connection with lending decisions and real estate owned/operated by the Bank.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will review environmental order request documentation provided by the Loan Officers and follows up with Officers if corrections are needed.
  • You will perform reviews of externally prepared environmental reports and assessments to ensure that the conclusions are reasonable, and the report is in compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements.
  • You will work with the Environmental Risk Manager, evaluate potential environmental issues related to proposed collateral, objectively providing internal clients with a balanced view of the risk and liabilities associated with the given property, including risk management options and strategies
  • You will answer daily questions from internal clients or vendors relating to environmental reports and environmental risk management policy requirements.
  • You will develop and document status updates of each review on a common job tracking system
  • You will coordinate with the Appraisal Department to ensure that environmental issues are communicated to the Appraisal Department.
  • You will conduct formal/informal seminars for Bank associates about technical environmental requirements
  • You will research and interpret Bank Policies pertaining to the complex lending requirements faced by the Bank and the Bank's customers
  • You will review environmental due diligence reports prepared by non-approved vendors for other financial institutions and determines whether such reports meet Bank requirements
  • You will stay current with financial and environmental regulations as they apply to the lending process
  • You will research and follow industry trends in the real estate environment risk space to build upon knowledge base
  • You will anticipate and identify issues inhibiting the attainment of assigned goals; develops and implements corrective actions
Education & Experience Requirements
The role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (such as chemistry, biology, environmental science, or engineering), a minimum of five years of experience in environmental assessment, environmental science, engineering, or a related field, a solid understanding of environmental due diligence report requirements and environmental projects, strong logical and analytical skills to address environmental risk mitigation issues, and experience with environmental risk as it relates to real estate lending, which is a plus.
  • Developing oral and written communication skills to effectively represent self and BOKF, as well as ability to present complex information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Developing conceptual thinking and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems that include interrelationships and dependencies in order to identify common themes and solutions
  • Developing organizational skills with ability to persist through ambiguity and move ahead regardless of barriers
  • Ability to effectively plan time, method, manner and sequence of own work assignments while balancing conflicting demands of stakeholders
