The Planner I is an entry-level planning position with the desire to learn and develop skills. Position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of planning and scheduling systems/processes to assist Operations in meeting shipment and on-time delivery goals. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining proper inventory levels to support current and future demand. The Planner I will be responsible for their individual planning duties, and as necessary, help provide backup support for the other Planner positions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Knowledge of and/or commitment to learn the following responsibilities:

  • Maintains MRP integrity of item data and ensures forecast/safety stocks are properly in place to enable the accomplishment of on-time delivery and inventory level goals. Continual analysis of the following factors:

    • Forecast vs. actual demand
    • EOQ/Lot size/minimums
    • Lead times (internal and external)
    • Order interval
    • Usage trends
    • BOM structure


  • Manage, develop and maintain inventory levels via assembly or component and/or end item forecasts which complement and support company production and sales - based on item history and any other product knowledge available.
  • Process Sales Orders for scheduling into the Production Backlog and Acknowledgement Date of the delivery schedule to the customer.
  • Direct and/or assist in the execution of production activities that enable meeting commitments made to our customers and assist with meeting on-time delivery performance. This includes:

    • Serve as the focal point for the resolution of shortages, working with shop floor and procurement personnel.
    • Analyze and ensure proper reconciliation of production/inventory discrepancies.
    • Confirm purchase requisitions and release production orders to the shop floor.
    • Expedite and follow up on orders as required.
    • Re-acknowledge Sales Orders in a timely manner as required.


  • Assist in development and maintenance of assembly, component and/or end item forecasts which complement and support production, inventory levels and inventory turn goals as directed by the company.
  • Perform additional activities which may include:

    • Analysis and processing of Excess and Inactive inventory.
    • System improvement.
    • Inventory reduction initiatives.
    • Procedure writing.
    • Consulting and involvement in new/lean programs or events.
    • Participate in and lead meetings.
    • Manage new design effectiveness and production phase in the plan, as well as phase out of the old design.
    • Incorporate spare and replacement strategies when applicable.





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills a necessity.
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Familiar with or willingness to learn ASCM (APICS) fundamentals or equivalent experience.
  • Experience planning/scheduling with an MRP system, along with a working knowledge of a job shop environment helpful.
  • General Office computer skills a plus, and ability to understand and navigate in Excel.
  • Ability to understand Bills of Material, prints, and manufacturing processes.
  • Valve product knowledge is an asset but needs to excel at problem-solving and have the ability to constantly re-establish priorities.
  • Requires effective communication skills in working with all departments.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are typical of an office position, including extended periods of sitting, and extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Must be able to see and move throughout the plant in order to resolve work problems and facilitate processes.
  • Occasional handling of material and components.
  • May have contact with caustic substances in some areas of the plant.



WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $58,154 - $72,693 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
