Warehouse Assistant

No two days in our warehouse look the same - and that's exactly how we like it.

One day you might be gathering and staging materials for a brand-new Potbelly shop getting ready to open. The next, you could be packaging individual items for shipping to existing shops, cleaning and organizing the warehouse, or helping prep millwork and materials for finishing.

If you're mechanically minded, enjoy working with your hands, and tackling unique projects, you'll fit right in. Our warehouse team keeps things moving behind the scenes and plays a huge role in helping our shops succeed.

This isn't a sit-at-a-desk-all-day kind of job. It's hands-on, fast-paced, physical work where teamwork, organization, and problem-solving matter. If you like variety, staying busy, and seeing the direct impact of your work, you'll probably love it here.

FOCUS

Responsibilities

• Pulls and distributes materials, artifacts, or other stock items to fill orders.
• Prepares and packages goods for shipping.
• Maintains accurate inventory records using inventory software.
• Receives goods and enters all items into inventory.
• Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
• Loads trucks with goods, makes deliveries, and picks up material from local vendors.
• Keeps the warehouse clean and organized.
• Assists carpenters and painters with prepping material for finishing.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Must be able to work overtime when needed.
• Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate, and key in data.
• Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to stand/walk for 9-10 hours per day and sit for 1-2 hours per day.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
• Must be able to communicate through telephone, e-mail and in-person communications.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND BEHAVIORS

• Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred.
• Experience operating a forklift required.
• Must represent The Potbelly Way.
• Minimum high school degree.
• Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Must be very neat and organized.
• Must be familiar with and comfortable with using basic hand and power tools.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to interact with all levels of a company.
• Must demonstrate leadership behaviors and values that align with Potbelly.
