The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Metro Railcar Maintenance Superintendent. The Superintendent manages the Railcar Maintenance Division, including supervision of union-represented employees and oversight of the maintenance and repair of the rail vehicle fleet.

The Superintendent ensures required railcar inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance are performed in compliance with state and federal regulations to support the safe and reliable operation of rail vehicles. This position participates in resolving maintenance service issues, ensures safety practices are consistently followed, and is accountable for meeting departmental goals and performance objectives.

The Superintendent works collaboratively with other departments to promote safe and efficient rail maintenance and operations activities and provides leadership aligned with agency goals and strategic plans.

This position reports directly to the Manager of Railcar Maintenance.

The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of experience repairing, installing and maintaining high voltage propulsion and related control systems, rail car systems; railroad signals and train control systems; electronic money collection systems; communication equipment; and/or other related electronic equipment in a transit or railroad environment. Two years of the required experience must have involved supervising lower level repair personnel maintaining mechanical, electronic and electrical systems and equipment.

Notes:

1. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience for up to four years of the required non-supervisory experience.


Licenses & Certifications

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
