Role Summary

In this position you will be part of the Energy Storage Systems team that is responsible for the development and execution of Rivian's battery programs. This role requires high levels of initiative, independent judgement, analytical framing, and indirect leadership capability. You should be able to lead teams to creative solutions and develop new processes in a compressed timeline.


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all aspects of battery program delivery including cost, timing, quality and performance objectives.
  • Technical direction for current and future battery development projects and programs
  • Indirect leadership of cross functional teams to deliver program objectives
  • Enhance performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction by refining and supporting processes that proactively identify and eliminate duplicate work to accelerate progress.
  • Ensure effective risk management is conducted throughout the battery program development process.
  • Responsible for program deliverables status at battery and vehicle program checkpoints and weekly leadership reviews
  • Lead pre-production build planning to ensure all DVP requirements are met
  • Build and foster relationships and establish effective escalation paths across the global supply chain to ensure Rivian's business needs are met
  • Be the single point of contact and escalation path on behalf of Rivian to business-critical strategic partners in the cell, module and pack supply chain
  • Plan and manage international logistics for pre-production battery packs to ensure on-time delivery of test assets
  • Provide proven knowledge and lead investigations into future cell chemistry developments to ensure a cohesive roadmap for Rivian's EV future.
  • Understand global material supply chain challenges and current mitigations within the EV sector
  • Lead localisation planning for cell, module and pack production within the EV supply chain in line with current and future legislation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience on a program team or similar experience
  • Launch experience on a battery, vehicle program, or similar
  • DRE experience and or Program Manager background
  • Exposure to multiple functional areas
  • Understanding of global EV production and supply-chain legislation and associated changes/challenges
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Detailed knowledge of the different EV cell chemistries and battery layouts
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical systems
  • Able to work efficiently under a high amount of work/stress.
  • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
  • Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related areas.

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is USD 154,000 - 192,500 for California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
