Position Overview
The Medical Records Coordinator (MRC) supports the Nursing Department in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of residents by managing and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is essential in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting census reporting, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives within our 150-bed Skilled Nursing and Subacute Rehabilitation facility.

Responsibilities
- Validates census information on a daily basis and submits census activity information to the Business Office or as directed.
- Submits census to required state department(s) weekly or as needed.
- Retrieves monthly reports from CMS.
- Organizes and performs analysis on medical records of discharged residents and ensures
completeness before filing. - Prepares information for QA & R and performs any related tasks as instructed.
- If applicable at facility, supervises, schedules and oversees Medical Records Assistant(s) to include assisting in the hiring process, reviewing timecards, evaluations, training, onboarding and administering discipline.
- Maintains MD/NP schedule.
- Manages role assignments for physician and nursing staff in HPN system.
- Maintains closed medical records and their accessibility for retrieval/investigations and the proper destruction of closed records per company policy.
- Every other weekend required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of long-term care experience
- Demonstrated computer skills using databases and applications (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Education/Training in medical records processing leading to R.H.I.T certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
