Position Summary:

As an AWS cloud solution architecture you are an experienced technologist with technical depth and breadth, aided with strong interpersonal skills, you will work directly with a variety of people across the enterprise and externally as part of technical delivery team helping to enable innovation through continuous delivery across technology stacks and creating robust solution designs that align to business goals. Your insight and experience will help our delivery teams build architectures and provide prescriptive guidance across network, storage, operating systems, virtualization, RDBMS & NoSQL databases, security, and automation. In addition, you will work with mid-tier technologies that include a strong background in large scale distributed systems, application integration, in-memory caches, security, and much more!

The qualified AWS Cloud Software Architect will have demonstrated the ability to think strategically about businesses, create technical definitions around customer objectives in complex situations, develop solution strategies, motivate & mobilize resources, and deliver results. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is a critical component to be successful in this role. We seek team members who are self-motivated, driven, collaborative, passionate about AWS Cloud and want to have a direct positive impact on our customer's business. Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence are also needed to help develop a team reporting to you.

Major Job Accountabilities:



  • Based on the strategy work with the consultants, engineers and chapter leads to develop relevant patterns and best practices to enable the delivery of cost effective, secure, reliable, scalable and performant solutions that deliver business value.
  • Effectively communicate the need for the standards so they are adopted and embraced by engineers and consultants
  • Implement effective practices to ensure compliance with standards and best practices
  • Develop pragmatic, effective, flexible architectures based on principles rather than dogmatic rules
  • Work with product owners and chapter leads to deliver effective PoCs and PoVs
  • Cooperate and coordinate with other architects to ensure a cohesive tech architecture approach
  • Supports squads in developing and maintaining suitable delivery metrics
  • Support Application Development Chapter Lead in implementing an engineering culture
  • Lead in delivering a cloud transformation in the architectural approach of our software development
  • Support Portfolio Senior Director in implementing an adaptive human centric system of work
  • Champions the adoption of agile practices
  • Coaches and develops the consultants and engineers
  • Develops a close working relationship with the principals to ensure technical excellence in everything we do
  • Financially literate and can interpret and make decisions based on P&L and balance sheet and support the FinOps transformation
  • Ensure that all the appropriate questions are asked and verify that nothing crucial to the success of the project is overlooked
  • Help transition to the cloud in a high-value migration approach that leverages best of breed designs and practices delivered in an agile model
  • Enable a DevOps culture and modernize operations and release strategies
  • Conduct deep-dive "hands-on" education/training sessions to transfer knowledge through the organisation


Qualifications:



  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years' experience in hands on software development You will be expected to write and review code.
  • 5+ years' experience in relevant solution architecture
  • 5+ years' experience in AWS cloud environments
  • 3+ years' experience in an agile delivery culture
  • 2+ years' experience delivering applications within an automated CI/CD, SDLC and automated testing advantageous
  • Airline or logistics experience an advantage but not essential
  • 4+ years' experience coaching junior team members
  • TOGAF qualifications advantageous


Special demands:

The role may require frequent (~monthly) domestic travel and occasional (annually) international travel

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.
