Civil Engineers (Licensed), SmithGroup, Inc., subsidiary of SmithGroup Co., Inc., 201 Depot Street, Floor 2, Ann Arbor, MI: As a licensed professional, a Civil Engineer collaborates with the project team to develop innovative solutions as well as coordinates the design through all documentation phases of a project. The Civil Engineer provides the full range of services on a small to medium-sized project or provides support to a Senior Project Civil Engineer on large, complex projects. Job duties include: Work products and project deliverables meet SmithGroup standards. On-time delivery of project objectives and deliverables. Determines and develops technical solutions to deliver the design through documentation and detailing while reinforcing the design intent. Coordinates with disciplines related to site design to reinforce the design intent. Refines and develops design concepts and participates in design critiques. Contributes to client and stakeholder presentations. Generates graphics and renderings or coordinates graphic development with Entry Level and Civil Designers. Prepares all phases of development and documentation packages. Assists in graphics and documentation for agency approvals. Contributes to the development of project specifications. Evaluates and selects materials and products. Participates in construction administration activities. Manages aspects of a project and proactively provides status reports to project leadership. Determines level of effort required for a given assignment and provides input on scheduling. Creates graphics for inclusion in marketing proposals, materials and presentations. Develops and maintains trusted relationships with clients. Assists with proposal and interview preparation and participates in interviews. Shares knowledge with peers and colleagues to support learning and professional growth. Mentors staff. Supports a team of staff in the completion of technical documents for projects of complex nature. Monitors, trains and provides oversight to the work performed by project team. Participates in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week. National or regional travel to client sites may be required, less than 10% of work time. Minimum requirement: a bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in civil engineering, or a closely related field of study, 5 years of progressive experience in any related occupation working on municipal sector infrastructure projects, including roadway reconstruction and storm, sanitary and water main replacement projects for public sector clients and civil engineering/site work design drawing sand specifications for private sector land development projects for institutional, industrial, commercial and residential clients, and a valid Michigan Professional Engineer License. Basic annual pay range is one hundred thirteen thousand, two hundred thirty-five dollars to one hundred thirteen thousand, seven hundred thirty-five dollars for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
