Job Description

Role Description

The primary responsiblities of the Material Specialist are pulling completed product from the floor, palletizing, staging for transportation, and loading and unloading freight from vendors and outbound to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads the effort to implement best practices within job scope; expected to participate in activities designed to improve production, quality and safety.
  • Unload, inspect, and receive inbound orders; verify Packing List and/or Bill of Lading match the products received; notate damages or discrepancies
  • Stage and load outbound customer and intercompany orders; ensure product loaded matches documents - verify lot numbers, order numbers, piece count.
  • Organize warehouse space; keep shipping and receiving areas clean, safe, and organized for efficient operations
  • Assist with moving master reels between storage and the production floor as needed
  • There may be other duties that are work related tasks as assigned by management

  • INITATIVE AND PEOPLE SKILLS:
    • Must be able to work effectively in a high involvement, empowered work environment. Must work as a member of a Team and be able to interact and work cooperatively with Shipping/Scheduling Supervisor, Engineering and Services Manager, Production Supervisor, Metallurgy and Quality Assurance Manager, Production Team Supervisors, Scheduler, Shipping Technician, Quality Assurance Technicians, Production Technicians, and outside truck drivers. Must possess excellent people skills, including ability to effectively communicate.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 2+ years related experience and/or training desirable. Prefer manufacturing experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, shipping schedules, shipping reports, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with Managerial/Supervisory co-workers, Quality Control Personnel, Sales Personnel, and Customers.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • REASONING ABILITY:
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    • Must be able to be certified as a Forklift Operator

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

  • Required to wear safety equipment, consisting of approved metatarsal safety shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection
  • Standard office equipment including computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, multifunction copier

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment. A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
