About the Role We are seeking a high-caliber IT System Engineer to manage and evolve the mission-critical infrastructure at our Smyrna manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, plant-facing role where your expertise in high-availability compute, storage, and disaster recovery directly impacts our production continuity. You will take full ownership of a modern, dual-datacenter environment, ensuring the stability and scalability of our core systems. What You Will Do * Infrastructure Ownership: Drive the day-to-day operations and long-term health of our VMware vSphere 8 clusters and Cisco UCS computer nodes. * Server Management: Lead the full lifecycle of Windows Server environments. This includes provisioning, hardening Active Directory/PKI services, managing Group Policy, and overseeing automated patching/compliance to ensure a secure and stable OS layer. * Storage & Availability: Architect and manage high-availability storage configurations using Pure Storage Metro Pods, ensuring zero-downtime failover capabilities across our dual-datacenter footprint. * Backup & Data Protection: Own the end-to-end backup strategy utilizing Veeam. You will be responsible for backup job health, off-site replication, and performing regular restoration drills to guarantee sub-hour RTO/RPO for plant-critical systems. * Proactive Monitoring System: Manage and optimize enterprise monitoring platforms to maintain 360-degree visibility. You will proactively identify performance bottlenecks and system alerts to resolve incidents before they impact manufacturing output. * Plant Floor Collaboration: Act as the primary infrastructure partner for the production team, ensuring that MES, SQL clusters, and Oracle RAC environments remain performant and reachable. * System Modernization: Continuously evaluate and upgrade legacy systems, ensuring the site leverages the latest features in virtualization and hardware to support factory growth. * Documentation & Standards: Maintain rigorous documentation for system architectures, IP schemas, and disaster recovery playbooks. Qualifications
What You Need * Experience: 4+ years of dedicated systems or infrastructure engineering experience (candidates with 5-8+ years for a Senior title are encouraged to apply). * Virtualization: Expert-level hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 8 (vCenter, ESXi, DRS, HA, vMotion). * Windows Ecosystem: Extensive administration of Windows Server (up to 2022), including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Failover Clustering, ADCS two-tier PKI, S2D, NPS, MPIO, and DFS. * Storage Infrastructure: Deep experience administering enterprise SAN/NAS; specific experience with Pure Storage (Metro Pods), NetApp, or Dell is highly preferred. * Data Protection: Ownership of backup and recovery platforms, specifically Veeam and ExaGrid, ensuring robust Disaster Recovery (DR) readiness. * Technical Troubleshooting: Proven methodology for solving complex issues across compute, storage, and OS layers in a high-pressure environment. * Operational Mindset: Ability to work independently in an on-site manufacturing environment where infrastructure stability is vital to plant operations. What is "Nice to Have"? * Industrial IT: Experience supporting factory, industrial, or 24/7 mission-critical environments. * Compute Platforms: Familiarity with Cisco UCS (including UCS-X). * Cloud & Identity: Experience with Hybrid Identity environments (Active Directory integrated with Azure AD / Entra ID). * Database Infrastructure: Collaboration with DBA teams to support SQL Server (Availability Groups) and Oracle RAC from an infrastructure perspective. * Observability: Exposure to enterprise monitoring platforms (OpsManager or similar). * Automation: Basic scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to drive operational efficiency What Requirements * Strictly On-Site: Full-time presence is required at our Smyrna, TN facility; this is a plant-facing role and not eligible for remote work. * Operational Availability: Ability to respond to issues during standard business hours, with occasional off-hours support required for critical production-impacting incidents or maintenance windows. * Physical Presence: Comfortable working within a manufacturing plant environment to provide direct infrastructure support.
