Assembler

The assembler will assemble aerospace sheet metal products by working at a bench and on the manufacturing floor.

large, complex contoured structural components and assemblies for aerospace and
other applications. Our integrated processes include stretch-forming,
thermal-forming, chemical processing, precision fabrication, machining,
finishing processes, and integration of components into subassemblies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of a finished assembly, the sequence of operations, and set-up requirements.
  • Positions parts by following blueprints, fixturing's, and operations sheets.
  • Trims, fits, and fastens parts together with bolts, screws, rivets, and adhesives.
  • Operates various hand tools, tooling fixtures, and machines such as belt sander, saw, grinder, riveting machine, drill press, and shear.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and weight scales.
  • Understands customer specifications as they relate to the operation being performed.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to customer requirements.
  • Learns basic Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Follows 6-S guidelines.
  • Follows all safety rules, including proper PPE requirements, while performing tasks.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Performs basic BAAN transactions (clock in/clock out, labor reporting, dispatch list).
  • Verifies the operation as specified in the traveler as it relates to the operation being performed (i.e. the proper material, thickness, process, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Math Skills - decimals, percentages, fractions - geometry and trigonometry preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars.
  • Ability to read and understand internal procedures, policies, and travelers.
  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
  • Team-oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions, software programs and internal ERP systems.
  • Communicates courteously and professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Specific vision abilities required, include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Annual baseline hearing test is required.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50
    pounds

This is a generic job posting for an Assembler. Depending on the candidate's skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.

Pay rate: $18.00 - $20.00/hour
