Overview:

Egan Company is seeking candidates for the Estimator position in our InterClad Group located in Champlin, MN. An Estimator in this group is responsible for the timely, accurate and consistent estimates of Curtainwall/Glazing/Panel Systems projects.


Responsibilities:

The basic responsibilities of the Estimator include but are not limited to the following:



  • Serve as point of contact for clients throughout the estimating process.
  • Develop plan & spec estimates.
  • Develop and communicate the trade specific scope of work.
  • Review all architectural, structural, and specialty systems drawing and specification.
  • Review specifications and input requirements into Egan recap spreadsheet.
  • Review all documents as it relates to the project.
  • Compile a list of necessary subcontractors.

    • Develop subcontractor scopes


  • Communicate RFP, scope, and coordination items

    • Compile a list of required materials and equipment for project.
    • Making sure it relates to the project and material scopes.


  • Attend pre-bid conferences and walkthroughs.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, price, and labor on all items.
  • Enter take-offs into various estimating tools.
  • Perform change order estimates.
  • Assist in the development of budget estimates.
  • Develop standardized assemblies and unit costs.
  • Review project schedule and phasing requirements.
  • Understand plan for constructability including:

    • material handling
    • pre-fabrication
    • Means, Methods and identify risk.


  • Identify general condition needs including the following:

    • tools required
    • equipment rentals
    • lifts and miscellaneous items


  • Participate in project turnover and setup.
  • Participate in post project reviews.
  • Cooperate with others as a company resource.
  • Develop and strengthen customer relations through networking and occasional social events.
  • Maintain relationships and contact with GC customers to understand upcoming opportunities.
  • Work to strengthen relationships with decision-makers at client firms to further Egan's business goal as a trusted partner in the construction process.
  • Work to position Egan to perform upcoming projects through early discussions and budget development assistance.
  • Engage with InterClad VP & Operations Manager and their counterparts in other Egan groups.

    • Identify emerging project opportunities and changing market conditions.
    • Market segments in order to assist with project selection and opportunities for Egan's multi-scope offerings.


  • Build strong internal partnerships; work collaboratively with other Egan groups:

    • Support Egan's Mission, Vision, and Values.
    • Collaborate with Marketing and others on preparation of proposals, as necessary.


  • Broaden Egan's General Contractor/client relationships by introducing prospective project. team members, such as Project Managers and Field Leaders.
  • Gather and report client feedback:

    • regarding selection criteria
    • Pricing, including competitor performance in relation to our own.


  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of estimating experience in the (Curtainwall & Glass) industry required.
  • A two year degree or applicable vocational technical certificate.
  • Ability to read and interpret specs and blue prints.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as Google Suite, MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail required.


Qualifications:

  • The Estimator is responsible for:

    • Managing the preparation
    • Along with pricing and
    • Submission of full-scope proposals for Egan's InterClad group.


  • In addition, this role assists with the management of business development activities.
  • Typical projects include:

    • Plan-and-spec
    • Design-assist
    • Design-build for general contractors
    • Average project size running from $10,000 to $100 million in value.




Working conditions:

  • Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and job sites as needed.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements are to be expected on job sites.
  • Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are to be expected on job sites.

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus. Position is eligible for an auto allowance and gas card.
