SFCS is seeking a Business Development Leader to join our team, leading strategic growth and client engagement efforts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with firm leadership, project teams, and marketing professionals while strengthening SFCS's presence across the senior living, higher education, veteran, civic, and other strategic market sectors.

This opportunity is ideal for a mid-level to advanced business development professional who enjoys building long-term client relationships, identifying strategic growth opportunities, and collaborating across disciplines to support meaningful projects that positively impact communities. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, strategic thinker, and trusted advisor who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Advanced experience in business development, client relations, or a related leadership role within the AEC industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Mid-Atlantic architecture, engineering, and construction marketplace.
  • Existing relationships within the senior living, higher education, veteran, civic, or related markets are preferred.
  • Proven success developing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and leading high-value pursuits.
  • Experience collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and marketing professionals throughout the pursuit process.
  • Project management experience within architecture, engineering, or interior design is preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems and pursuit tracking tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in support of client meetings, industry events, conferences, and business development initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement strategic business development initiatives that align with SFCS's growth objectives throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Identify, cultivate, and pursue new client relationships and project opportunities through networking, referrals, industry engagement, and strategic outreach.
  • Serve as a trusted representative of SFCS by building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Attend conferences, industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities to strengthen SFCS's visibility and market presence.
  • Collaborate with Principals, Project Managers, and the Marketing team to develop pursuit strategies, proposals, interview presentations, and client engagement plans.
  • Participate in go/no-go discussions by providing market intelligence, client insights, and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, RFQs, and RFPs to identify opportunities that align with SFCS's strategic goals.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, monitor business development metrics, and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity and pursuit outcomes.
  • Partner with firm leadership to align business development efforts with operational capacity and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Represent SFCS with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional client service.
