Job Description:

As Supervisor Powerplant Component Field Services, you'll oversee the quality, compliance, and performance of Southwest's engine, landing gear, APU, and component maintenance providers-ensuring every shop adheres to the Safety, compliance, and quality standards outlined in our FAAapproved CAMP. Serving as the primary onsite focal for your assigned maintenance providers, you'll audit shop operations, review documentation, track production, and evaluate vendor performance using quality and production metrics. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Fleet Asset Management, Supply Chain, Records, and Tech Ops Leadership to drive process improvements, support policy updates, and facilitate shop visits and audits. By strengthening provider performance and helping accelerate the return of critical aircraft assets, you'll play a vital role in supporting operational readiness and maintaining the reliability our Customers depend on.

  • Guide and lead team members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage employees

Responsibilities
  • Provides oversight of outsourced Powerplant, Auxiliary Power Unit, landing gears, and components during maintenance performed at designated Southwest Providers
  • Reviews component condition, coordinate with SWA Engineering to recommend specific work scopes in accordance with SWA Technical Operations policies, programs and procedures
  • Reviews and documents removed hardware and associated conditions to SWA Engineering that may aid or affect SWA Engineering specification changes
  • Ensures work performed at providers is in accordance with Southwest procedures and policies
  • Performs reporting duties associated with shop Quality performance, and other metrics identified by Leadership
  • Ensures maintenance data from MX Providers is accurate and compliant to CFRs, and SWA / MX Provider policies, programs and procedures
  • Performs timely in-process auditing to ensure Maintenance performed at MX Providers is compliant to SWA policies, programs and procedures
  • Interfaces with SWA Engineering and other Tech Ops Groups, to include SWA vendors, and manufacturers, on technical issues
  • Provides shop data that may aid with the development of Engineering work specification and contracts
  • Monitors and analyzes shop trends or reliability that may affect Engineering work specifications and contracts
  • Serves as Field Services Liaison on projects with Southwest Airlines Planning departments (e.g. Powerplant Planning) on issues related to shop loading at Maintenance Providers
  • Collect and provide data deliverables as necessary that assess maintenance provider's annual production plan and their ability to execute to plan
  • Must comply with directives set forth by Sr. Manager of Powerplant and Component Field Services
  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Fully functioning broad knowledge in:
    • Fixed-wing aircraft in maintenance, engineering and/or quality assurance
    • Aircraft fleet retirement and lease return requirements
    • Indirectly leading employees or teams
  • Preferred: Experience using Maintenix (MXI)
  • Preferred: Experience & proficiency navigating technical manuals
Licensing/Certification
  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary ranges from $103,750 per year to $115,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
