JOB INFORMATION

JOB SUMMARY

** This job is being posted across two skill levels (Level I & Level II). Applicants will be considered only for the higher of the two levels in which they qualify. **

Responsible for the day to day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Power Generation facility to include equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, filters, water treatment systems, combustion turbines, and generators.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Performs responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under general supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems using basic principles of field. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Generally follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the training and mentoring of less experienced team members.
  • Participates in control operations training to perform the duties of a Senior Plant Operator (control room).
  • Monitors, operates and checks Auxiliary equipment.
  • Identifies abnormal Auxiliary equipment operations.
  • Takes corrective action and/or initiates requests for equipment repair.
  • Monitors, analyzes and performs demineralized and cooling water chemistry tests.
  • Keeps logs, records data and verbally communicates plant conditions.
  • Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.
  • Executes clearance procedures.
  • Follows all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Repairs, inspects and maintains auxiliaries, turbine/generator auxiliaries, also fuel supply equipment and auxiliaries, if applicable.
  • Performs general craft tasks, operates various industrial equipment, and uses power hand tools.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
  • Works with other craft and plant personnel as required.
  • Continually seeks process improvement to save cost and increase efficiency.
  • Performs general maintenance, configuration and calibration of process and safety instrumentation utilized in the multitude of processes involved in electrical generation.
  • Schedules and coordinates daily activities with supervisor.
  • Provides general troubleshooting and programming modifications for Programmable Logic Control/Distributed Control Systems and HMI systems.
  • Performs required testing of various process instruments and safety systems such as ESD, fire detection and gas detection systems.
  • Completes and publishes calibration and testing reports for documentation purposes.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains all AC/DC control circuits and components.
  • Performs equipment alignment.
  • Performs necessary pipefitting related maintenance.
  • Performs necessary welding related maintenance.
  • Performs general craft tasks and uses power and hand tools.
  • Reads and interprets complex drawings and prints.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

LEVEL I



  • Associate's Degree in a mechanical or technical discipline; Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 1 year experience in a mechanical or technical field, Or
  • A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a mechanical or technical field, Or
  • Prior military service for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214.


LEVEL II



  • Associate's Degree in a mechanical or technical discipline, And 1 year experience in a mechanical or technical field; Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 3 years experience in a mechanical or technical field; Or
  • Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214, And2 years' experience in a mechanical or technical field; Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 1 direct plant experience at the same Power Plant and successful completion of Board Review.
  • A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a mechanical or technical field is equivalent to 1 year of mechanical or technical experience.
  • Experience must include 1 year experience in a power plant or other process controlled environment including oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May work under hazardous conditions where physical danger exists due to mechanical equipment.
  • May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on-call and call-outs.
  • May require travel.
  • May be required to lift fifty (50) pounds or more.
  • May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
  • Obtain or maintain obtain required certifications.
  • May be required to complete training Process.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Auxiliary plant, equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire full understanding of plant operation via the Turbine Control HMI and/or Plant DCS.
  • Proficiently use SAP/PM including notifications and work order management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve plant problems effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with company policies and operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand plant systems/processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use common purpose hand tools and other materials of various craft trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, following approved work methods and standard testing practices.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions and evolving business needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, electric motors, air compressors, valves, welding, fabrication, construction, pipefitting, etc.).
  • Demonstrated commitment to an IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC control circuits and components.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lock out tag out (LOTO) and proficiency in all plant systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental instrumentation and control concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance, testing, installation and repair of many types of instrumentation and control components.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at various levels throughout the organization.
  • Basic computer skills using MS Office.
  • Strong knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers/Distributed Control Systems and Human Machine Interface equipment and the ability to make minor programming changes under engineering guidance.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed instrumentation and control drawings.

Level I: $56,971 - $71,157
Level II: $75,046 - $93,746
