Job Title: Senior Medical Editor - Pharmaceutical Advertising

Location: Remote (Priority consideration for candidates near Irvine, CA)

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Work Schedule: Project-based | Must work Pacific Time Zone hours

Work Environment & Structure

  • Fully remote for contractors

  • A consistent 40-hour workweek is not guaranteed - Billing depends on assigned projects
  • Must demonstrate flexibility in fluctuating business volumes



Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Editor with strong pharmaceutical advertising agency experience to support multiple brands in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

This role focuses strictly on editing and fact-checking. It does not include tagging, linking, Veeva work, or promotional regulatory submission preparation.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a fluctuating workload environment and independently managing assignments with minimal oversight.

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • Agency experience - Mandatory
  • Senior-level experience - Minimum 5 years required
  • 5+ years of solid fact-checking experience in a pharmaceutical advertising agency environment.
  • Hands-on medical information fact-checking expertise.
  • Strong understanding of agency workflows, deliverables, and editorial cycles.
  • Comfortable working in a project-based billing structure
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs
  • Comfortable working Pacific Time Zone hours
  • Any college degree


Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of AMA style with an understanding of FDA guidelines governing pharmaceutical products/devices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Teams). Experience with Adobe Acrobat and/or ProofHQ.


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Experience working on Oncology brands. Exposure to Neurotoxin products
  • Experience in pharma medical education editing
  • Proximity to Irvine, CA (priority consideration)



Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and proofread copy across assigned and additional brands as needed
  • Perform detailed fact-checking of annotated medical copy using approved references and acceptable sources
  • Conduct all types of editorial reviews with full understanding of review rounds and requirements
  • Maintain strong knowledge of assigned brands and product categories
  • Ensure strict adherence to client and brand guidelines
  • Create and maintain brand style guides and bibliographies
  • Apply AMA style and adapt to varying editorial styles per brand
  • Demonstrate understanding of FDA pharmaceutical and device guidelines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with agency stakeholders to maintain quality and meet deadlines
  • Manage workload, meetings, and multiple projects effectively
  • Proactively communicate bandwidth and offer support when work is completed
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior editors and freelancers
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes and minimize errors



Interview Process

  • Step 1: Editorial Assessment: Deadline-based (not time-tracked). Standard turnaround: 3 business days. Extensions available upon request. Hiring manager reviews all completed assessments collectively
