At NMG Aerospace a Production Supervisor gives guidance, direction, and training to team members, as well as assures adherence to company policies, manufacturing procedures and processes. Hours are: 6:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday Job Summary: The Supervisor gives guidance, direction, and training to team members, as well as assures adherence to company policies, manufacturing procedures and processes. Essential Job Functions: Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all required safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE for each team member and job assignment
- Accountable for cleanliness and organization of manufacturing workspace
Quality:
- Responsible for overall quality and workmanship of products for assigned areas
- Provide support for corrective action process in resolving discrepancies, errors, and escapes
- Coordinates resources to effectively diagnose and eliminate issues
- Troubleshoot productivity and quality errors and issues such as time discrepancies, back flush inaccuracies, and general production errors; elevate problem situations with a clear summary of actions and recommendations
Delivery:
- Coordinates resources (labor and material) in support of 98% + OTIF to all internal and external customer requirements
- Coordinate the completion of returned goods for repair
- Execute production scheduled to meet customer need
- Ensure tooling, job travelers and work cell inspection documentation is available and correct prior to issuing to the floor for production
Cost:
- Improve inventory accuracy through a combination of cycle counts, physical inventory reconciliation and overall data integrity
- Minimizes O/T through level loading production cells based upon backlog/forecast and extensive cross-training
- Ensure support materials are available; issue buy cards as needed
- Identify and evaluate direct material risks (shortages/excess)
People:
- Develop a clear understanding of capabilities and limitations of assigned team members; perform and/or oversee the training and cross-training of team members to include procedures and policies in safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement
- Maintain skills matrix for all direct labor reports
- Review work schedules for assigned team members; adjust and approve work hours for payroll reporting
- Ensure that operations checkoffs are completed by team members
- Evaluate work performance of team members to ensure competency and capabilities of team members meet requirements; complete first draft of performance appraisals for management review
- Hold team members accountable for personal performance and overall contribution; provide input and documentation for performance rewards and disciplinary actions
- Fill-in for team members as needed to support shortages or to gain required subject matter experience
- Approve time off requests for team members and track team's total schedule availability
- Promote employee engagement and accountability on a daily basis by maintaining a work environment committed to caring, honesty and fairness, open communication, involvement, coaching, and ethical behavior
- Assist in updating and maintaining performance metrics as required
Additional Duties:
- Promote the overall safety culture by following and enforcing all safety policies and assisting in accident prevention efforts by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Responsible for job closing and job transaction accuracy throughout the manufacturing process
- Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
- Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
- Must remain current with and complete all required training as assigned.
- Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience in multiple manufacturing production environment roles sufficient to develop a minimum level of familiarity with work processes, production flow, and technical vocabulary
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and problem solve
- Demonstrated commitment to developing the personal leadership skills needed to direct, coach, and develop others' capabilities
- Effectively communicates, both verbally and written, with all levels within the organization
- Able to work under time sensitive deadlines, and with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate proficiency in the use of computer programs to perform research and general correspondence (Email, Excel, Epicor ERP System etc.)
- Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
- Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
- Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
- May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Advanced training in technical field, leadership, and/or continuous improvement preferred
