Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is tasked with optimizing current agency relationships within the WC vertical niches, complex account unit, and alternative risk units. The Business Development Manager is also responsible for monitoring and reviewing activity of selected agents to ensure premium goals are met, acts as liaison to the underwriting group, and focuses on client relations.

In Addition, the BDM regularly interacts with Corporate Underwriting, Sales Managers and Sales Leadership to effectively target potential trading partners. Once identified, the Business Development Manager engages the agents and prepares a business case proposal for review by Corporate Underwriting leadership. The BDM conducts appropriate follow-up and acts as project manager through the vetting process until prospect approval.

The Business Development Manager maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.



Responsibilities

    Interact with Sales and Underwriting leaders across AmTrust to coordinate outreach to prospects
  1. Work with Sales and Underwriting, solicit information from the prospect agency - premium written, policy count, underwriting expertise, value proposition
  2. Coordinate the transfer of data between organizations
  3. Participate in regional Sales and Underwriting meetings, as requested, to ensure agency prospecting/follow-up
  4. Monitor and help facilitate rollover of existing book of business from the agency's prior carrier.
  5. Interact routinely with the Corporate Underwriting Leadership, Regional Sales Directors and Regional Presidents to ensure that agency prospecting efforts are effective
  6. Provide periodic updates to corporate leadership in regard to new agencies that have been appointed as well as activity reports
  7. Monitors industry trends and shares information with relevant AmTrust parties
  8. Maintain an external position through speaking engagements and strategic Insight initiatives, including publications promoting expertise and innovation in the specialty
  9. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, workers compensation and/or property & casualty insurance products and principles
  • Demonstrated success in program environment, underwriting management and influence
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative, productive manner
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written; professional telephone etiquette, strong presentation skills for both internal and external audiences; comfortable with/proficiency in public speaking
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to support outlined responsibilities
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Applications and the ability to learn new software programs
  • Travel as needed

The expected salary range for this role is $76,600-$110,000.00
