Summary of Job Duties:The Academic Support Graduate Assistant for the Supplemental Instruction Program will conduct program-related research including data collection, analysis, and reporting to assist with development of system improvements. The Graduate Assistant will help with preparation, coding, and analysis of semester surveys and will support the program coordinator(s) with daily program operation and supervision of student employees, including some evening and weekend hours. Working with the program coordinator(s), the Graduate Assistant will develop and deliver content for training and classroom presentations as needed. The Graduate Assistant will facilitate the observation of student employees working in the program(s), provide periodic feedback, and will work on other projects as needed and time allows. Regular, reliable attendance and maintaining a collegial work environment are required.

This position will develop UA Career-Ready skills such as critical thinking, communication, perspective awareness, teamwork, professionalism, and technology.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties
*Help generate schedules for SI sessions for fall and spring semesters
*Create professional development presentations for SI leaders
*Assist in the interview and hiring process for new SI leaders and new mentors
*Evaluate SI leader written assignments
*Help build and execute SI leader pre-semester training

Observations
*Observe five or more SI leaders three times per semester
*Conduct a debrief with leaders following observations
*Provide mentoring/advice for SI leaders Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or enrollment in an integrated master's degree program at the University of Arkansas

  • Enrollment in University of Arkansas graduate program of study

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one semester's experience teaching or working in an academic support setting such as tutoring services, a supplemental instruction program, peer academic coaching, and/or writing instruction

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and present findings to multiple stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of academic support programs such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, peer academic coaching, and/or writing instruction

  • Skilled in Excel, Blackboard, Zoom, Office 365 (OneDrive, Forms, Teams)

  • Skilled in interpersonal communication

  • Skilled in time management and organization

  • Ability to work effectively in teams and independently with limited supervision

  • Ability to problem solve and think critically
