Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Urgent Heart Failure Clinic Registered Nurse to join the team. This role will be full-time, day shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (must be flexible). No travel required. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Urgent Heart Failure Clinic Registered Nurse Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the daily operations of the APP-led clinic by providing same-day or next-day evaluations and executing established protocols for outpatient IV bolus diuretics to stabilize volume-overloaded patients and prevent hospitalization
  • Works closely with heart failure cardiologists, APPs, and pharmacists to design and deploy individualized treatment plans while providing comprehensive patient and family education regarding medications and care goals
  • Utilizes an integrated, collaborative approach to achieve desired outcomes, serving as a vital resource and mentor to the healthcare team while demonstrating strong leadership in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
  • Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
  • Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members
  • Assists staff to assess patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
  • Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor and delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed
  • Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
  • May perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
  • Education: BSN or ADN - If ADN then complete BSN within 5 years of start date
  • Certification: BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
  • License: RN licensed, and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: Telemetry, ICU, CVICU, IMC - step down; heart failure experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in IV starts and assessment of volume-overloaded cardiac patients.
