What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join the Cathode Site Operations team. This role focuses on supporting OPEX and CAPEX initiatives by driving project planning for new builds, equipment installations, and upgrades in cathode manufacturing. Collaborating with cross-functional design engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation groups, this position ensures seamless integration of innovative technologies to enhance battery production. The role contributes directly to Tesla's mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy through efficient and scalable cathode production systems in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
What You'll Do
- Develop detailed project plans for OPEX and CAPEX initiatives, including equipment installations, facility upgrades, and cathode process expansions
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to transform design concepts into actionable installation and upgrade strategies
- Support execution of new builds and system upgrades by coordinating shutdowns, vendor integrations, and commissioning phases
- Optimize project budgets by identifying cost-saving opportunities in materials, labor, and timelines while tracking expenditures
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including work packages, bills of materials, and as-built drawings for all projects
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices for high-voltage and cleanroom environments
- Facilitate communication across production, engineering, procurement, and facilities teams to align on milestones and resolve challenges
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in project planning or maintenance coordination within a manufacturing environment
- Familiaritywith OPEX and CAPEX project management and budget optimization
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems in industrial settings
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics for equipment integration
- Experience with documentation and compliance in regulated manufacturing environments
- Command of the English language, both written and verbal for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit and operate a computer for prolonged periods of time in an office setting
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to findissues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
