POSITION SPECIFICS

Goals, general responsibilities and place in the organization:

The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) seeks a graduate program recruiter to help meet our goals of attracting a high-quality and diverse graduate student body.

The Graduate Student Recruiter would bear overall responsibility for recruiting students to the College of IST's single doctoral program as well as our master's programs. Our master's programs include two in-residence M.S. programs - Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations and Informatics. Online we offer a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations and a Master's of Enterprise Architecture and Business Transformation (MEA). We also offer several Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate (IUG) programs which bring IST undergraduate students into our graduate programs.

This newly created position will report to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs. The recruiter will liaise with the team of the Associate Dean for Student Success, particularly for activities related to diversifying the applicant pool. The recruiter will also work closely with the Graduate Programs staff, who manage the Graduate Recruiting Committee (GRC) for the doctoral program and the Masters Advisory and Recruitment Committee (MARC).

Specific responsibilities will include:

Pre-recruitment

  • graduate program marketing including website and marketing literature content creation; monitoring and managing website and marketing literature updates and distribution

  • collecting data helpful to recruitment including graduate student placement, time-to-completion, conducting focus groups with current graduate students to inform marketing and recruitment strategies

  • developing and maintaining awareness of domestic and international markets for our graduate programs

  • liaise with IST and PSU entities to help inform or coordinate marketing and recruitment including IST undergraduate recruiting, the Fox Graduate School, graduate student recruiters in PSU 'sister' colleges (Engineering, Smeal, EMS, Science, HHD), and Penn State Global

  • liaise with IST and PSU entities helpful to recruiting a diverse applicant pool and graduate student population including IST Associate Dean for Student Success and the Fox Graduate School

Active Recruitment

  • identify and attend graduate school career fairs and conferences that promote diverse graduate student populations (e.g., Tapia conference, PhD Project)

  • lead and participate in on-campus recruitment activities

  • provide outreach to applicants and admitted students

  • answer inquiries from interest forms from World Campus and the IST website

  • develop and run online information sessions for international graduate students

  • maintain an updated list of FAQs for applicants

  • participate in Graduate Programs tasks and activities as needed, including working with the Graduate Recruiting Committee (GRC) and the Masters Advisory and Recruiting Committee (MARC

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Work Modality:

This role blends in person and remote work and includes travel to conferences and other universities to support student recruitment efforts.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
