Job Description

Summary

The role is responsible for:

  • Developing PCC Metals Group's Quality Assurance policies and processes consistent with PCC Quality Council initiatives, and in compliance with AS, ISO, NADCAP and customer-specific requirements.
  • Leading the internal audit program to validate compliance at the site level and assisting with external audit preparation.
  • Managing division and local resources in EU, UK and US with respect to raw materials procurement for the titanium and nickel businesses and specifically coordinating supplier/subcontractor audits and raw material approvals in cooperation with the procurement function.
  • Project management for division-wide initiatives, such as:
  • Defining business requirements and leading the Quality function in the deployment and development of new QMS and LIMS applications across all PCC Metals Group facilities.

Essential functions

* Manage a team of 8 Quality Engineers and Senior Quality engineers across 4 sites to maintain the Raw Materials Qualifications and Approvals program.

* Support the development of QA personnel as required to support local plant functions.

* Ensure appropriate supplier controls for purchased raw materials, including supplier audits and verification of purchased product upon receipt, are effectively implemented at melt sites. Conduct raw material supplier audits as required, auditor training, including hazard awareness training, as necessary to support newly assigned personnel.

* Maintain/enhance PCC Metals Group's Quality Management System across all sites to ensure continued compliance to customer and industry quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100/AS13100), including the Corporate Business Quality Systems Manual (BQSM) and Corporate Quality Protocols (CQPs).

* Work with each site to assess high risk quality system deficiencies and implement preventive measures to mitigate weaknesses in the quality program.

* Evaluate each sites' QMS (e.g., training programs, management reviews, internal audit administration, RCCA program effectiveness) and identify improvement opportunities for various QA processes and align to AS9100/AS13100 and a business management approach; leverage identified best practices across the organization.

* Project Manage the implementation of new QMS and LIMS applications across all PCC Metals Group facilities in cooperation with the IT Quality Systems Manager to meet the needs of the businesses. Lead a steering committee to ensure successful and consistent deployment at all facilities.

* Formalize internal quality surveys to aid identification of performance improvement opportunities within the company.

* Periodic participation in Management Reviews/Quality Team Meetings and third-party quality audits to promote consistency and best practice.

* Collaborate with local quality and operations management to periodically assess perceived competence of QA staff and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Participate in Quality Rules investigations at the plant level with an aim to ensure a fair and equitable approach is maintained across the sites.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Director of Quality, PCC Metals, to resolve intracompany conflicts as they relate to Quality Assurance activities.
  • Work with site auditors to conduct value-added internal and supplier audits as needed to support plant audit schedules. Provide feedback on auditor's performance to Plant Leadership and debrief other sites of audit findings where similar vulnerabilities may exist as appropriate.
  • Review material disposition practices at each site with a goal of harmonizing release practices.
  • Review site specific Fixed Practice Agreements with a goal of harmonizing customer agreement content.
  • Host monthly Hazard Review best practice sharing calls.
  • Assist with resolution of PCC Metals Group exceptions to customer/industry specifications.

* Represent PCC in the AESQ group as PCC's voting member

Education and Experience

* Minimum: BS degree in an Engineering field.

* Preferred: BS degree in Metallurgical/Chemical/Materials Science Engineering.

* Minimum: 10 years in Quality Control/Assurance in a manufacturing facility.

* Preferred: 15 years minimum in Quality Control/Assurance in a primary metals production facility.

Special Skills/ Experience

* Quality assurance/control principles, quality management systems, ISO 9001, AS 9100, AS13100; working knowledge of titanium manufacturing processes; proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).

Additional Notes:

* Knowledge of customer/industry specifications and customer agreements.

* Travel Requirements: Up to 50%
