JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role
You will design and build the back-end cloud services and APIs that power the Vivint Smart Home ecosystem. Your work will directly influence how millions of customers secure and control their homes.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with platform engineers, mobile app teams, camera firmware engineers, QA, and product managers. You'll help architect, build, and scale high-performance services that support our next generation of smart home cameras and security devices.
What You'll Do:
* Design and implement gRPC and REST APIs used by mobile apps, web clients, and IoT devices
* Build and operate highly available, low-latency cloud services that process real-time smart home events
* Participate in architecture and design discussions for new features and platform improvements
* Collaborate across teams to integrate new camera and IoT products
* Contribute to code quality through code reviews, design documents, and testing best practices
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of software development experience
* 3+ years experience with Go
* Experience building distributed, scalable, and secure cloud services
* Experience designing APIs (REST and/or gRPC)
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to own backend features from design through deployment and monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
* Experience with Python
* Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
* Experience working with MQTT or IoT device messaging
* Experience with Kafka or other event streaming systems
* Experience using AI-assisted tools for development
* B.S. in Computer Science or related field

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
