Salary Range: $109,000 - $259,000*

*Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.

Trident has built a reputation as a trusted provider of aerospace and defense electronics & processing systems including digital RF & Optical command and control solutions and atmospheric & airborne sensors. Our three operating units: Space Electronic Systems (SES), Integrated C4ISR Systems (ICS) and Optical Precision Systems (OPS), develop within the agile framework which enables us to produce proven, purpose-built systems that solve our customers' mission critical challenges across space, air, land, and sea.

Trident's Integrated C4ISR Systems (ICS) specializes in products and services which improve the safety and survivability of our armed forces. ICS develops solutions for a wide range of demanding missions and environments, including tactical communications systems for multi-national interoperability, autonomous predictive maintenance and logistics solutions, and scalable, responsive, all-domain surveillance systems. Trident's integrated systems support the protection of the National Capital Region and various military installations both domestic and abroad. ICS delivers innovative, high-performance solutions that meet our customers' evolving requirements by integrating our specialized knowledge in electronic systems with appropriately scaled development methodologies.

Position Summary
As Trident enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a Director of Business Development to lead international expansion by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities and customers. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for Trident's international representatives, distributors, and strategic partners, with responsibility for building, managing, and expanding relationships across both existing and prospective customers.

As global alliances continue to strengthen and demand for multinational communications interoperability accelerates, Trident is well positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities and deepen engagement with international customers and end users. Trident's portfolio of certified, fielded, and deployed interoperability solutions, combined with a strong and growing customer base, supports significant global expansion.

This newly created position will drive Trident's global opportunity development and growth strategy across key international markets, including Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute international growth strategies, partnerships, and capture plans aligned with regional priorities across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to drive increased global revenue.
  • Build and oversee a global rep and distributor network for Trident, initially focusing on Europe's eastern flank, but eventually spanning Asia, and the Middle East.
  • Evaluate and recommend region-specific go-to-market models.
  • Monitor and influence international defense and communications requirements, engaging directly with foreign end users and prime contractors to position and integrate Trident solutions into competitive bids and large-scale system integrations.
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with major communications prime contractors, ensuring a high level of customer engagement and strategic alignment.
  • Grow and manage a qualified international sales pipeline, successfully closing opportunities to achieve and exceed company growth objectives.
  • Deliver accurate revenue forecasts and consistently meet or surpass annual international sales targets.
  • Conduct regular engagements with international partners, customers, and representatives to ensure program alignment, forecasting accuracy, and identification of new business opportunities.
  • Manage international customer relationships throughout the full sales lifecycle, ensuring high customer satisfaction, long-term retention, and repeat business.
  • Maintain and oversee sales data within CRM systems, providing timely and accurate reporting to leadership to support forecasting, strategic planning, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Management and Engineering teams to ensure international customer requirements are clearly understood, communicated, and incorporated into product development and delivery.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support proposal and capture activities, including responses to RFIs and RFPs, as well as upsell initiatives on existing programs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Trade Compliance, and the Leadership Team to support execution of global initiatives and business objectives.
  • Travel internationally approximately 6-10 times per year to support trade shows, partner engagements, and in-country customer pursuits, operating effectively with minimal administrative support.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (e.g. business, finance, or accounting) or equivalent work experience.
  • 15 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree or 13 years with a master's degree (in lieu of a degree, candidates with 19+ years of related experience can be considered)
  • 10 years' experience in the international Aerospace & Defense market.
  • Working knowledge of the international tactical radio and communications interoperability markets.
  • Proven success in securing new international business.
  • Working knowledge of international Ministry of Defense (MoD) acquisition processes and budget cycles.
  • Hands-on experience engaging with customers to identify mission needs and translating those requirements to engineering and program management teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales forecasting, budgeting, capture planning, and proposal development.
  • Ability to influence and shape customer requirements effectively throughout the business development lifecycle.
  • Experience with CRM Tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in MS Dynamics CRM.
  • Direct business development experience in the international tactical radio or radio interoperability markets.
  • Familiarity with US Department of Commerce Export controls.
