Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources operates as a strategic and tactical partner to business operations leadership by aligning the People strategy to the business strategy and incorporating into day-to-day work. The Director of Human Resources will manage day to day activities of the Human Resources team and provide guidance and support to mid-to-higher level leaders with the objective of adding value to the business. This is a full generalist role and as such this individual will perform a wide range of Human Resources activities including but not limited to employee relations management, talent development, compensation administration, workforce planning/talent acquisition, manager/executive development, organizational design and performance management. This position is fully on site in Leawood, KS.

  • Serve as primary Human Resources support and strategic business partner for various assigned business leaders in the MHC organization.
  • Provide progressive people solutions such as integrated talent management, workforce planning, succession planning, and organization structure to increase business impact.
  • Review and analyze workforce data and key people metrics to improve the worker experience, assess gaps and opportunities and provides insights to leaders to help inform the right business decisions.
  • Propose People solutions and/or organizational changes based upon an analysis of critical business opportunities.
  • Manage complex employee relations issues including organizational and structural changes, conduct and direct investigations ensuring proper handling, documentation and alignment with legal.
  • Serve as an advisor to management for employment related legal issues and ensures local compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local employment laws.
  • Work with management to develop and implement training strategies to meet employee needs. Collaborating with Learning & Development and/or selects consultants as necessary to provide programs and facilitation.
  • Continually challenge and improve the programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization.
  • Lead a regional team of Human Resources professionals to ensure consistent and streamlined practices and services across the business.
  • Support the ongoing development and career progression of Human Resources team members through coaching, performance feedback and career discussion to foster meaningful career experiences while meeting the needs of the business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of HR experience across all areas of HR, with 5+ years partnering with, managing, or providing consultation to a customer group. Experience developing and operationalizing strategy, and leading projects and change initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills including superb communication, action-orientation, and proven consultancy skills (analysis, problem-solving, facilitation, developing and operationalizing business cases).
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and corporate guidelines related to all employment practices.
  • Ability to understand trends, prove via data, translate into actionable insight and influence changes.
  • Strong business and financial understanding.
  • Proven customer engagement abilities.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility across each level within organization.
  • Cultural astuteness, integrity and sound judgement.
  • Experience with diverse client groups and agility to work with matrixed functional areas and stakeholders.
