Job Summary

The Director provides program & facility support to the Team Milwaukee Special Olympics program. The staff member is the site point person for Team Milwaukee and is responsible for evening operations at assigned program locations; assist with building monitors, building staff, volunteers, and troubleshooting/ensuring the safety of all participants.

Position Summary

  • Understand and abide by the policies and procedures as detailed in the Part-Time Recreation Employee Manual, including Appendices.
  • Understand and abide by the policies and procedures as detailed in the Adaptive Athletics & Team Milwaukee Staff Manual.
  • Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Recreation, and non-MPS program location rules.
  • Work directly with the Recreation Supervisor to supervise and monitor practice facilities and surrounding areas to ensure visibility and availability for all participants.
  • Enforce all posted building rules to ensure safety for all patrons.
  • Distribute and effectively communicate program information to coaches, volunteers, athletes and parents/guardians.
  • Immediately document and report suspicious activities and incidents/accidents to the Recreation Supervisor, Site Coordinator, or Resource Assistant.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
Supervision Required

Reports to the Recreation Supervisor of Team Milwaukee

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 1st Aid/CPR/AED Certifications (training will be provided if needed).
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience working with special needs athletes.
  • Basic knowledge of the Special Olympics program.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver exemplary customer service to the public and district staff.
  • Ability to assist with the management, site supervision and coaching of the Team Milwaukee Special Olympic practices.
Working Environment

  • Contributes as a team member to a recreational atmosphere which is friendly, safe, and professional.
