Description

In this role you will provide direct nursing care, infusion therapy and documentation of care in the Immediate Care. Major functions include but are not limited to:

  • Triage of patient complaints, patient assessment, patient evaluation for both adult and pediatric patient populations.
  • Preparation and administration of intravenous drugs and fluids, immunizations, patient education and psychosocial support
  • Act as a resource to other licensed and unlicensed staff members
  • Assumes the charge nurse role during non-standard business hours including evenings, weekend and holiday hours

Salary: $96.74/hourly

Qualifications
Required:
  • Current and valid California RN license
  • 3+ years of ER, Acute Care or Urgent Care experience
  • BSN or MSN
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Experience
  • Knowledge of the Adult and Pediatric patient population and practice operations
  • Knowledge of all aspects procedures and medication administration in an urgent care setting.
  • Ability to assume direct involvement and provide backup support during clinic emergencies and in patient related problem solving
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through for multiple patient treatments
  • Phlebotomy and IV skills
  • Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to utilize appropriate interpersonal skills in all interactions
  • Ability to accept direction and promptly follow through on other duties as assigned with minimal supervision
  • Experience and knowledge to accurately screen and triage acute patient
  • Knowledge and experience to recognize abnormal laboratory values and respond
  • Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians and administrators
  • Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and visitors with health concerns using tact and discretion
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and general public in a high volume, clinical setting
  • Ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment.
Preferred:
  • Possession of PICC line certification
  • Knowledge and skill in Central line Catheter management and access
  • Working knowledge of the UCLA registration system, appointment scheduling system and order entry system
