What you will do

We're hiring! Johnson Controls is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer responsible for providing engineering support for products released to manufacturing, and assist in the transition of new products from engineering to manufacturing for our JCI-Synchrony Engineering team! This position is onsite at our Salem, VA, facility. Candidates must be commuting distance or be able to relocate.

How you will do it

  • Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.

  • Develop and fabricate fixtures and tooling for manufacture of magnetic bearings and related electronics assemblies and assembly of motors and VFDs.

  • Implement manufacturing process improvement to maximize efficiency and cost.

  • Act as machine shop consultant and assist with machining processes as needed.

  • Support QA in the area of mechanical measurement techniques and support incoming and in-process inspection as required.

  • Act as an Engineering resource for design guidance and transition to manufacturing.

  • Develop, release and maintain Manufacturing Work Instructions and revise as needed.

  • Automate current manufacturing processes to reduce cost and improve as-produced product quality.

  • Represent Manufacturing in Engineering design reviews and provide input to Engineering on manufacturability of new designs.

  • Support the resolution of supplier quality issues as they relate to manufacturing.

What you will need

Required

  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 2 year technical degree required

  • 5+ years experience with parametric solid modeling tools such as ProE, SolidWorks or Unigraphics.

  • 5+ years experience in design and fabrication of tooling and fixtures for manufacturing applications

  • Extensive experience with the principles and use of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Preferred

  • Experience with rotating machinery. Magnetic bearing experience

  • Experience in machining; familiarity with a variety of machining tools, including mills, lathes, CNC equipment, etc.

  • 4 year engineering degree

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $105,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
