THE POSITION

Do you believe that economic prosperity and environmental protection can go hand-in-hand? The Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Energy Programs Office is seeking an organized and enthusiastic visionary to join the team as an Environmental Program Manager and lead the charge in Pennsylvania's energy transition. Here, you will oversee the statewide programs that define how we use alternative energy, prevent pollution, and build a climate-resilient Commonwealth. If you are ready for a challenging and fulfilling professional endeavor like no other, we want to meet you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Program Manager, your work will focus on collaborating with the director, the DEP Policy Office, the DEP Legislative Office, and the Public Utility Commission to develop regulations and policies that encourage the development and deployment of energy activities and technologies in support of Pennsylvania's energy producers and consumers. You will also provide supervision to professional and technical staff engaged in the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the department's statewide alternative energy, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, energy assurance, climate, and innovative energy technology implementation programs. Specific programmatic efforts to be developed and managed by this position will involve energy systems pertaining to wind, solar, fuel cell, energy storage, biomass, natural gas, energy efficiency technologies, combined heat and power, alternative fuel vehicle technologies, and other alternative energy and energy efficiency related technologies.

Key duties also involve the management and oversight of the development and administration of grant and policy planning programs. This includes fostering both economic development and environmental protection through the efficient use of indigenous energy resources and technologies. Specific program examples include the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program, the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority, the US DOE State Energy Program, and any other grant programs consistent with department priorities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to facilitate comprehensive presentations to special interest groups, legislators, media, and the public on programs for which the office is responsible.
