What to Expect
We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Passive Safety Engineering Technician to join our team at Tesla's Passive Safety Static Lab. As a member of our Passive Safety Test team, you will play a critical role in supporting system and component level measurement testing, focusing on vehicle development, regulatory certification, and consumer protection test ratings.
What You'll Do
- Configure and set up vehicles, vehicle bodies, and components for measurement testing
- Operate measurement equipment, CMM Faro/Romer devices, hand tools, and cameras for testing
- Position vehicle and or seats in vehicle and or fixture, and utilize CMM test devices (Faro, or Romer arm) as needed
- Accurately record setup details, measurements, test results, and any incidents that occur during testing
- Understanding 225 FMVSS regulations, Strong understanding of child seat installation
- Strong personal skills, able to reach out to volunteers and maintain good repour
- Identify, label, and store pre- and post-test samples
- Maintain test equipment and support repair and improvement projects
- Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and volunteers
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of experience in automotive safety and/or regulatory testing highly desired
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation, especially CMM measurement tools highly desired
- Familiarity with automotive safety testing regulations and procedures, including FMVSS, ECE, US NCAP, EuroNCAP, IIHS, CIASI, and CNCAP highly desired
- Photography experience highly desired
- Ability to read and interpret test regulations and specifications
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to use computers effectively for data acquisition, imaging, inventories, communication, and reporting (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized laboratory work environment and adhere to 5S standards

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
