Job Description

Position Summary
The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a Director of Player Personnel - Football to lead and manage all aspects of player personnel operations for its nationally competitive NCAA Division I Football program in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Reporting to the Chief Recruiting Officer, the Director of Player Personnel will oversee roster management, recruiting logistics, player evaluation, retention strategies, and transfer portal operations. This position works closely with the Head Football Coach, coaching staff, recruiting staff, compliance, and operations to ensure strategic alignment, NCAA compliance, and sustained competitive success in the evolving college football landscape.

Key Responsibilities

1. Roster Management and Strategic Planning (30%)

* Manage and maintain the football roster, including scholarship distribution, eligibility tracking, and positional balance.
* Oversee roster planning related to NCAA scholarship limits, SEC regulations, and transfer portal strategy.
* Collaborate with coaching staff to forecast roster needs and long-term personnel planning.
* Support Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) strategy alignment in coordination with university partners and external entities.

2. Recruiting Operations and Personnel Evaluation (25%)

* Coordinate recruiting boards, evaluations, and rankings for high school, junior college, and transfer portal prospects.
* Assist coaching staff with film evaluation, background research, and prospect analysis.
* Manage official and unofficial visit logistics in coordination with recruiting operations staff.
* Support recruiting communication strategies while ensuring compliance with NCAA and SEC rules.

3. Transfer Portal and Retention Management (20%)

* Oversee all aspects of the NCAA Transfer Portal, including entries, evaluations, and retention strategies.
* Maintain detailed records and databases related to portal activity and player movement.
* Assist in developing player retention initiatives and exit processes.
* Coordinate communication between coaching staff, compliance, and student-athletes regarding transfer procedures.

4. Player Support, Development, and Culture (15%)

* Serve as a liaison between student-athletes, coaching staff, and support services.
* Promote program culture, accountability, and leadership development.
* Support onboarding, transition, and retention of student-athletes.
* Collaborate with academic services, sports performance, sports medicine, and mental health resources to support holistic student-athlete development.

5. 5. Compliance, Administration, and Collaboration (10%)

* Ensure full compliance with NCAA, SEC, and University of Missouri policies and procedures.
* Work closely with compliance staff to monitor eligibility, recruiting activities, and documentation.
* Assist with administrative duties related to football operations and personnel management.
* Collaborate with recruiting, operations, analytics, and external relations staff to align departmental goals.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a NCAA Division I football program.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with education and experience
