DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves the evaluation of applications for Plan Approvals and Operating Permits, which are essential for the construction, modification, and operation of sources of air pollution and their associated control devices. The individual in this position is responsible for assessing these applications and making recommendations regarding their approval or denial to both the Regional Program Manager and the Environmental Engineer Manager, based on a thorough review process. Additionally, the employee prepares the necessary documentation for Plan Approval and Operating Permit authorizations, along with other relevant correspondence. It is important to note that, in accordance with licensure requirements, this position operates under the supervision of a licensed engineer within the Air Quality Program at the Southwest Regional Office. Should the position be filled by an Environmental Engineering Trainee, the individual will engage in a structured one-year on-the-job training program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge required for the specialist role. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,328.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
