The Design Manager Piping will serve as SME on assigned projects which can be large in nature and executed in multiple office environments. Responsibilities include conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and vendor packages for equipment, nozzle loads, and anchor location systems. This role will specialize in Pipe Engineering Design.This position will manage the career development of design staff while aligning capabilities to meet current and future market needs. Holds the team accountable for meeting task schedules, producing quality deliverables, and respecting project budgets/earned value projections.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Supervise the Piping Design Department; identify gaps and works to improve individuals' capabilities through coaching, development, and training.
  • Coordinates all 3D Design development of the model by all discipline engineering designers including piping, civil / structural, electrical, instrumentation, architectural, fire detection and HSE.
  • Establish and maintains the relationship with the clients, process licensors, consultants, and other groups in the project team, disciplinary engineering departments, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop detailed project scope and schedule.
  • Develop engineering design requirements and manage engineering design data.
  • Review, analyze and interpret design requirements.
  • Manage the scheduling of Design activities to issue drawings, specifications, and purchase orders, assuring receipt of information from the client, process licensors, subcontractors and suppliers to meet the overall engineering and construction schedule.
  • Supervises and coordinates Design work done by Exyte's disciplinary engineering departments and vendors.
  • Review and QA drawings, piping requisitions, technical bid analyses, and specifications prepared by disciplinary engineering departments; vendors and subcontractors to ensure conformity to the client's specifications and requirements.
  • Review and approve various technical documents to be furnished by the project engineers such as plot plans, P&ID and operating manuals.
  • Coordinate investigation and resolution of field-initiated questions pertaining to design and engineering.
Show your expertise

Minimum Required

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in design and piping engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience managing a team of 5+
  • Experience in the role of Project Discipline Lead
  • Good knowledge of ASME/ API Standards and Codes and pipe stress analysis.
  • Ability to understand systems, P&IDs and interface with other disciplines.
  • Knowledge of piping utility systems and facilities layout
  • Knowledge of 3D Design and review software
  • Ability to conduct multi discipline modeling reviews in a team environment
  • 3D Design Knowledge and experience including all modules
  • 3D Design software.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
