DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves contributing to the Bureau's research initiatives, particularly focusing on groundwater projects at the Survey. Responsibilities include analyzing geological and hydrological data, all aimed at developing future groundwater maps within the Commonwealth. Key tasks will include the review of maps and data with intent on identifying water well locations to assess bedrock depth and rock types. The employee will help with quality control and quality assurance verification of groundwater well data throughout the Commonwealth. Additional responsibilities include scanning historical documents and maintaining databases.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2026 through 8/28/2026
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
- Geology
- Earth Science
- Environmental Science
- An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.
- Freshman year completed by May 2026
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
