Job Description




As a Security Officer - Retail Unarmed Driving Role in Joliet, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular patrols, staying visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and providing outstanding customer service. This is a driving post, so you will be responsible for monitoring the premises by vehicle while embodying our values of integrity, teamwork, and people-first service.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities within the retail location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, assisting with security-related matters as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the store and around the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential security-related concerns.
  • Observe and report any suspicious behavior, hazards, or security-related incidents to Allied Universal and/or site management.
  • Assist with access control and monitor entry and exit points as required by site protocols.
  • Support loss prevention efforts by maintaining a visible presence and communicating with store management about security-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs of daily activities, observations, and incidents as required by Allied Universal and/or site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Having a guard card or license is preferred.
  • This is primarily a driving post.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
