POSITION SUMMARY: The Principal Architect is responsible for architectural planning and enablement in collaboration with Engineering Leadership. They will work to define an architectural roadmap in alignment with business objectives and work across delivery teams to execute against this plan, participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle as a player and a coach. The Principal Architect will also identify and define architectural patterns and best practices to be followed for all Engineering deliverables. The Principal Architect will participate in partnership with the Director, Application Development in technology discovery in alignment with business initiatives to provide technology and architecture impacts associated with a technology's incorporation into Clearway Health's application ecosystem. This role is an evangelist but also a realist and will help the organization weigh the pros and cons of new technologies and engineering patterns considered being incorporated into our application architecture. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Develop and drive strategic technology roadmaps in partnership with Engineering leadership:
- Work cross-functionally to execute a cloud-ready application strategy, working with Product, Data, Infrastructure and Security teams collaboratively.
- Design and lead the implementation of an architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies in collaboration with Engineering leadership
- Define architecture documentation standards in collaboration with Engineering leadership
- Document necessary architecture designs in accordance with the above documentation standards.
- Drive engineering excellence across Clearway Health:
- Ensure that enterprise architecture guidelines and recommendations are followed and bridge gaps directly with enterprise architecture.
- Ensure that project teams follow enterprise architecture processes to include technical reviews and enterprise technical recommendation.
- Develop unique, compelling, and exciting presentations and demonstrations of new applications and technologies.
- Provide consultation services to enterprise and IT teams.
- Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals.
- Mentor and coach engineers, administrators, and developers to ensure that architecture and requirements best practices are followed.
- Create patterns, frameworks, and toolkits to ease adoption of standards and speed of development
- Lead delivery by example, developing application code to the above standards
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- 1-3 years' experience in architecture or relevant experience.
- Expertise in multi-channel digital solutions, products, and frameworks.
- Proven ability to architect, develop, and deploy production applications in AWS at scale
- High-level understanding of relational database management systems and other data structures.
- Solid knowledge of the following is preferred: Cloud Application Architecture with deep expertise in AWS, experience using containers, asynchronous and event-driven design patterns, overall system health (logging and monitoring strategy), secure API design principle.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
- Proven ability to contribute to the development of strategic technology direction and architecture vision for a large organization.
- Ability to think across IT solutions in a multi-platform environment and define potential impact.
Preferred Education and experience: (If none, please enter N/A)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge and experience implementing and supporting healthcare data integrations with Electronic Health Record (EHR), Health Information Exchange (HIE), or similar systems.
- Experience with FHIR and HL7 standards strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience implementing AI tools in development tooling and in enterprise applications.
- Deep Healthcare technology experience strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITY:
- Capable of cross team coordination of work at a Program level.
- Ability to consistently lead teams through conflict resolution and technical debates.
- Ability to develop working relationships to stand out as a leader among the engineering group demonstrated by how others follow their leadership, and not just from assigned job title.
- Deep expertise in our tech stack: React, Node.js, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, Event Bridge, SNS/SQS, Dynamo DB)
- Ability to deliver working code as an engineer while guiding and coaching more junior engineers
