The Position
A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That's what makes us Roche. Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche's Research and Early Development organizations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximizing these opportunities. The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide. The Scientific Compute capability within the Center of Excellence (CoE) is dedicated to accelerating scientific application development by utilizing cloud and on-premises computing solutions. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of data science, biology, and engineering to build innovative analytical tools that bridge the gap between data generation and biological interpretation-helping unlock new avenues for scientific discovery and impact. Minerva is providing the CS CoE with a cutting-edge application hosting cloud platform. This platform is designed to enhance the speed and agility of our digital transformation journey. The platform is secure, scalable, and flexible, enabling complex, data-driven application deployment in a container-based environment. This ensures elasticity and speed. The platform's design as a container hosting solution enables users to seamlessly deploy, manage, and run any type of containerized application at scale across different clusters and regions. Additionally, the Minerva team provides advanced operational support for developers and operators, ensuring a secure and scalable environment. In addition to container hosting, Minerva offers complimentary AWS data services, API gateways, and Kafka event streaming as a self-service option. Minerva was developed with the overarching concept of leveraging technology to expand capabilities rather than relying on human resources. In practice, this means that we use APIs, GitOps, automated integration pipelines, and automated testing whenever possible. We are currently in the process of merging two platforms (Minerva and Nebula) into a single product. Due to the recent merger, we are currently seeking a leader (tactical level) based in the American region to support our existing EU-based team. The Opportunity:We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect and Engineer (5+ years) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for owning feature development and gRED-specific features, acting as our local representation, and managing stakeholders in America. You will also be the lead for Cloud onboarding (US), security (US), and disaster recovery (US). You will collaborate with other team members on platform innovations, architecture, and engineering. Job responsibilities:
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is between $133100.00 and $ 247100.00.
