Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Kennedy Valve Commercial Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across all designated plant areas during the evening hours of 4:00pm to 12:30am. This position ensures that restrooms, locker rooms, specific offices, breakrooms, common areas, and production and maintenance areas remain clean and in top condition. The Commercial Cleaner performs deep cleaning, restocking, and disinfection duties during the evening shift, and responds to on-call cleaning emergencies as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facility Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform thorough, deep, evening cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, locker rooms, and shower areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene. Disinfect high-touch surfaces, sweep, mop, scrub floors, and clean interior glass and mirrors for a polished, professional appearance. Empty and reline trash and recycling receptacles across the facility.
  • Production Floor Cleaning: Conduct deep cleaning in production and maintenance areas, including scrubbing, degreasing, and pressure washing of floors and walls. Support major plant cleaning projects, shutdowns, and seasonal maintenance to maintain a safe and compliant industrial environment.
  • Common Area Maintenance: Deep clean and sanitize breakrooms, cafeterias, and vending areas after shift operations. Wipe down tables, chairs, countertops, and appliances; refill soap, sanitizer, and paper products; and ensure these shared spaces are ready for the next workday.
  • Emergency and Special Projects: Respond promptly to sanitation or spill emergencies during evening operations. Assist in plant-wide cleanup efforts, special projects, and outdoor housekeeping tasks such as maintaining entryways and walkways free of debris or oil residue.
  • Supplies and Chemical Handling: Monitor cleaning product levels and communicate replenishment needs to supervision. Safely label, store, and use all chemicals and equipment in compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all facility safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and report any spills, leaks, or equipment malfunctions immediately. Dispose of waste properly and adhere to environmental and sanitation guidelines specific to heavy manufacturing operations.
  • Professional Conduct and Communication: Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism in all occupied or sensitive areas. Communicate effectively with supervisors about safety concerns, supply needs, or maintenance issues, and complete all assigned cleaning routes efficiently and thoroughly.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior commercial cleaning, custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safe cleaning practices and use of cleaning products.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and handle cleaning chemicals properly.
  • Excellent time management, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in occupied facilities.
  • Understanding of industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 79, NEC).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and lifting throughout shift.
  • Ability to stand and perform manual cleaning tasks for extended periods.
  • Tolerance for working in manufacturing and industrial environments.
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Walking and performing tasks throughout an active heavy manufacturing operation.
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and lifting throughout shift.
  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with weekend overtime as operationally needed.
