Dover Precision Components is hiring a Quality Engineer for our FW Murphy Production Controls brand, located at our Rosenberg, TX facility. WHAT YOU'LL DO The Quality Engineer strategizes, implements, and supports activities to ensure that products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Play a critical role in monitoring and improving manufacturing and engineering processes, developing testing methods, analyzing parts and data, and implementing changes to enhance quality. The Quality Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and sales to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring that products meet customer expectations and company standards. Lead root cause analysis, implementing quality strategy at the site level, supporting quality-related audits, and supplier quality assurance. Key responsibilities include: Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Conduct audits, tests, and inspections throughout production, globally, to identify defects or areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality guidelines.
- Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards. Conduct supplier audits and provide support to manufacturing site audits by customers.
- Develop and implement quality control plans to assist in achieving higher levels of quality from start to finish and ensure product reliability and consistency for strategic projects.
- Contribute, maintain, and support the company Quality System, compliance with regulatory requirements, and quality strategy execution.
- Develop and maintain the validation and verification strategy for new and existing products and processes
Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis:
- Investigate product and process failures to recommend corrective actions using root cause analysis methods (i.e. Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, 8D, 4D, Fast, etc.).
- Provide training on root cause analysis methods cross-functionally
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and production teams to develop solutions to quality-related issues.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions and conduct audits to confirm the sites' quality management system effectiveness.
- Lead complex Design of Experiments (DOE) projects to validate manufacturing processes and replicate failure modes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and quality processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Drive continuous improvement efforts by facilitating PFMEAs and DFMEAs, quality circles, and other lean initiatives.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare reports for customers, internal and external quality audits, and management on quality issues, action plans, and improvement projects.
- Provide plant support to maintain compliance with regulatory organizations (i.e. ISO) through documentation and audits of documentation.
- Analyze metrics and KPIs related to customer satisfaction and internal process performance.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree required; preference for Engineering field, other degrees considered depending on work experience.
- 5+ years' work experience in an engineered product environment, Engineered-to-Order or Manufacture-to-Order experience strongly preferred.
- Quality mindset with a preference of related quality experience in a Lean Six Sigma manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in quality audits and working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure quality standards set and achieved.
- Excellent problem- solving skills and demonstrated success in root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including ERP, MS Office, and data visualization.
- Ability to travel (overnight 10-15%) to meet customers, internal partners, and/or attend conferences.
ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES
- Electrical components, control panels, and/or automation product expertise preferred.
- Master's degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Certification in Quality (i.e. Six Sigma, CQE, etc.) is preferred. Must be willing to obtain certifications if not already accredited.
- Strong understanding and application of engineering principles and design practices.
- Experience with quality management systems.
