We are seeking a graduate engineer interested in the field of Construction Engineering and Inspection for highway and bridge inspection projects. This position will be in our Western North Carolina Region (Asheville, Waynesville, Hendersonville, Sylva, etc.). Duties will include but may not be limited to:


  • Traveling to various project sites to conduct inspection and testing duties
  • Following standard procedures and specifications for documentation and inspection of construction activities
  • Reading, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing
  • Computing quantities for items such as concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices
  • Operating company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment
  • Reporting construction progress and issues with engineers, contractors, utilities, and government officials to Senior Field and Administrative personnel
  • Documenting field changes and as-built plans
  • Documenting daily diaries and material test reports
  • Working in an office or outdoor environment in varying weather conditions as required by the project type

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:


  • Graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or similar field.
  • It is preferred that the candidate holds minimum NCDOT certifications as required by the scope of work for the project:

    • NCDOT Concrete Field Technician
    • ACI Concrete Field Level I
    • NCDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Level I
    • NCDOT QMS Roadway
    • NCDOT Conventional Density
    • NCDOT ABC and Borrow Pit Sampling certification
    • NCDOT Intermediate Work Zone Safety (or Equivalent)
    • OSHA 10-hour Construction Program





  • Candidates who do not hold the above certifications will be considered based on their ability to obtain the necessary certifications.
  • Zero (0) to four (4) years of experience in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection and the ability to obtain the above qualifications in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Candidates that do not hold a graduate degree may substitute 4 years of relevant field experience.
  • This position may require the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
